“I will take you from who and where you are now, closer to who and where you want to be, using your own mind, body and spirit.”
Hi, my name is DK.
Welcoming clients to my busy Derbyshire/East Midlands-based practice for weekly or fortnightly appointments, nationally and internationally via Zoom.
I am a 57 years young parent and grandparent with a very eclectic, interesting and varied life. My family and home are central to my happiness, as is travel and general exploration of the world, life and self. I’m also very open and down-to-earth and endeavour to bring my whole, authentic self to this work.
I have a reputation for ‘healing the healers and holding those who hold’. Is it time you put your own oxygen mask on first?
I hold Advanced Accreditation, Advanced Trainer Training, and am a Clinical Associate and an Associate Lecturer for Pink Therapy and have been a Keynote speaker at their Annual Conference as well as giving various webinars for them over the years. I’ve also written the CNM (consensual non-monogamy) chapter for their new edition of what is essentially the Pink Therapy Manual (Relationally Queer; A Pink Therapy Guide for Practitioners) as well as having written the CNM Module for their online Cert/Dip in GSRD (gender, sex, relationship diversity) Therapy students.
I have many years of UK professional counselling studies and qualifications achieving AQA Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, followed by the two year PGDip (Post Graduate Diploma) in Gender, Sex, Relationship Studies with Pink Therapy. Psychodynamic core; Integrated. I also continue to attend ‘latest thinking’ and ‘specialist areas’ workshops each year in order to always maintain my CPD (continuous professional development); well for that, and a lifelong delight in learning.
Additional offerings: Supervisor, author, educator, trainer, speaker.
My approach is very psycho-educational. I’ve been known to say ‘I have the most peculiar job; I help clients to look at and talk about the things they don’t want to, and intentionally work myself out of a job’! My aim is to equip my clients with as much psycho-education, skills, tools and strategies to become their own best therapist.
Experienced with diversities of GSRD (gender, sex, relationship diversities), therefore working with clients from the LGBTQIA+ (including ace’, aro’ etc.,), CNM (consensual non-monogamy), polyamory, tantra, sex work, spirituality, and kink communities. Sometimes just knowing this is an aspect of your life that I will not automatically pathologise is a great starting place. Additionally experienced in working with intersectional diversities of race and culture, disability, chronic illness, and neuro-diversity.
If in doubt that your particular struggle or challenge is something that I would be willing to or indeed able to work through with you, please do feel free to ask. I will respond without judgement and with honesty.
I do not have a magic wand. I may however carry a few more road maps than you for this particular situation. You’re still driving!
My personal interests include nature, walking, adventures, travel, reading, writing, meditation and spirituality. I have tried my hand at many physical and mental pursuits during my life including flying, parachuting, paint-balling, body boarding, pot-holing/caving, climbing, abseiling, go-karting and generally exploring to the fullest this world in which we live.
This continuing exploration includes a deep and ongoing commitment to spiritual and sexual self-development with various educational and experiential retreats such as; Vipassana, Shamanic circles (including running them), attending and assisting on UK workshops run by the likes of Barbara Carrellas (Urban Tantra Professional Practitioners Training), Dossie Easton, Mollena Williams-Haas, Raven Kaldera and more. You could say I believe one can never acquire enough knowledge, experience or skills. I’ve also read Tarot professionally for twenty years; I view this as an exceptional ‘life path progression tool’ for those whom it suits.
I love my family, friends, furry friends (we love cats and dogs and I’ve a horse) my home, and my motorbike.
“If I accept you as you are, I will make you worse. However, if I treat you as though you are what you are capable of becoming, I help you become that.” Goethe.
